Quilters
|
| The
LWR Quilters assemble quilts to be distributed by
Lutheran World Relief to refugees and other people
in need overseas. These quilts may become a shelter
from the sun or protections from the cold. Often
times they are used as a bed, a room divider, a
backpack to carry belongings, or even a burial shroud.
Each quilt is one of a kind made from donations
of old sheets, fabric samples and remnants or pieces
of new fabric. Some workers cut or sew the blocks,
others pin or tile quilt tops to bottoms for finishing.
Some ladies who are unable to come to the workshops
sew the quilt tops at home. No experience is necessary
and everyone is welcome to come and assist where
they wish while enjoying Christian fellowship. The
quilters meet in the Fellowship Hall every 2nd
& 4th Monday of the month from 9:30am –
2:00pm. The Quilters welcome any and all
donations of fabric (old sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths,
napkins, material scraps, etc.) - even old curtains.
They are also always in need of sewing thread -
any color but especially white. You may drop your
donations off in the box located in the storage
room across from the kitchen.
